New Zealand indie rock band

Auckland indie-electronic duo Alisa Xayalith and Thom Powers hit number one in New Zealand with "Young Blood" in 2010, the first local artist to do it in three years, then relocated to Los Angeles after touring their debut Passive Me, Aggressive You through two dozen countries. You caught them right as they made that move in mid-2012 and leaned hard into the synth-bright hooks of that first record. After a long silence, they came back around late 2022 and have quietly stuck since, with In Rolling Waves earning plenty of spins alongside the debut you never quite shook.
