British musician

Claude says:Nick Drake died of an antidepressant overdose at twenty-six in 1974, barely known beyond Island Records and the University of Cambridge crowd where he'd been signed as a student. Born in newly independent Burma to a British engineer and a mother who wrote fragile, foreboding songs eerily like his own, he recorded three albums of fingerpicked folk before withdrawing completely to his parents' home in rural Warwickshire. You picked him up in 2006 — probably via the Garden State soundtrack, which you played heavily back then — and he's resurged properly this past May after nearly fourteen years of stray check-ins, Pink Moon and Bryter Layter suddenly getting serious rotation.
