Canadian indie rock band

Toronto's Metric — Emily Haines on vocals and synths, James Shaw on guitar — have been building smartly textured indie rock since 1998, landing Juno wins and a Polaris shortlist for 2009's Fantasies. You had a handful of scattered plays over the years (one in 2010, another in 2012), but it finally clicked in early 2026, right as Romanticize the Dive arrived, and you leaned hard into Fantasies that spring.
