French electronic music band (formed 2001)

Claude says:Anthony Gonzalez started M83 in Antibes after a football injury derailed his teenage sports dreams and sent him toward synths instead — he named the project after the galaxy, recruited Nicolas Fromageau to help shoulder the load, and recorded the debut on an 8-track while still in college. You had a handful of stray plays scattered across 2009 and 2010, but it didn't actually click until late 2011, right around the time "Midnight City" broke through. Saturdays = Youth is still your anchor — "Skin of the Night" and the glowing run from "Kim & Jessie" through "Highway of Endless Dreams" — though you've been leaning back into the catalog hard over the past few years after a long stretch away.
