Claude says:Anthony Gonzalez dove headfirst into '80s pop culture for this one — produced by Ken Thomas and Ewan Pearson, it spread M83's shoegaze synths into pristine, lyrical pop songs that reviewers called both expansive and genuinely emotional. You let a few stray plays drift by in 2009, but it didn't take hold until March 2010, two years after release, then hit hard through late 2011 and 2012 with "Skin of the Night," "Kim & Jessie," and "We Own the Sky" leading the rotation. You've circled back in scattered bursts ever since — 2014, 2016, 2018, and again in 2024 — treating it less like a phase and more like a reliable comfort you rediscover when the mood strikes.
