Claude says:System's second album turned them from an interesting outlier into a force — Rick Rubin pushed them to over-write (they came in with 44 songs), and bassist Shavo Odadjian nearly watched his own composition get buried before Daron Malakian locked in the arrangement that made "Toxicity" a nu-metal landmark. A couple of stray plays in the mid-2000s went nowhere, but you finally grabbed onto it in mid-2012 and have kept circling back whenever you need those odd time signatures and Serj Tankian's unhinged intensity — "Toxicity," "Chop Suey!," and "Aerials" still hit hardest.
