Claude says:Switchfoot's fifth album landed in 2005 at number three on the Billboard 200, but it's best remembered for being ground zero in the Sony BMG CD copy protection scandal — the band's bassist had to post workarounds on their site before Columbia took it down. Written mostly on the road after the breakout success of The Beautiful Letdown, the record skews darker than their earlier work, tackling loneliness and entropy with densely layered guitars. You picked it up a year after release in September 2006 and cycled through it hard for about a year, then returned for another stretch in 2008-09 before a huge July 2020 spike brought you back to "Lonely Nation" and "Politicians" — tracks that didn't chart but clearly stuck.
