Claude says:STP's fifth and final Brendan O'Brien collaboration was recorded in a Malibu villa in early 2001 and originally conceived as a double album honoring Andrew Wood — about thirty songs tracked before Atlantic and the producer talked them down to thirteen. The range is all over the place: heavy distortion, psychedelic sprawl, acoustic ballads, the kind of swing that made sense for a band about to splinter. You grabbed it a dozen years after release in August 2013, burning through "A Song for Sleeping," "Bi-Polar Bear," and "Black Again" in a concentrated burst before moving on entirely.
