Claude says:Snow Patrol recorded this in Berlin's Hansa Studios and rural Ireland with Jacknife Lee, following their massive Eyes Open run — Gary Lightbody had 220 GarageBand sketches to work from, eventually narrowing to about 20 keepers. The stated aim was a cheerier album about a relationship that's working, though Lightbody admitted forcing himself past writer's block to write about being in love without sounding clichéd (the sessions were also interrupted by bats flying around at dusk). You grabbed it the month it came out and leaned on it hard through early 2009, then heavier still in 2010 and 2011 before a long quiet stretch — it's been back in your life since 2023, with "Crack the Shutters" and "If There's a Rocket Tie Me To It" leading the way.
