Claude says:Recorded at Pet Sounds in '97 with producer Robert Schneider, this is Jeff Mangum's surrealist, Anne Frank–haunted second album — guitars and drums run through heavy compression alongside singing saws and uilleann pipes, no standard pedals or effects units. You came to it fifteen years after release, in early 2013, and burned through it hard that winter and spring: the title track, both "King of Carrot Flowers" parts, "Two-Headed Boy," "Holland, 1945," the eight-minute "Oh Comely," the hidden closer.
