Keane's blockbuster debut — UK's second-biggest album of 2004, eventually certified 9× Platinum — was recorded in two stages: four songs in Normandy with James Sanger in 2001, the rest at Helioscentric Studios in late 2003, all piano-led after guitarist Dominic Scott's departure. You picked it up in September 2006, two years after the Brit Awards hysteria, and burned through it hard that fall before it settled into a pattern of long absences and sudden returns — most recently a two-month run in spring 2025 built around "Somewhere Only We Know" and the album tracks "She Has No Time" and "Can't Stop Now."
