Claude says:Smith recorded this in his girlfriend's basement on a four-track in late 1993, never expecting Cavity Search to release the whole thing — just a seven-inch — but the label heard the tape and wanted it all. The raw, homemade sound comes from a RadioShack mic and Smith playing every instrument himself, still moonlighting from Heatmiser at the time. You picked it up in 2006, a dozen years after it came out, and spent a few weeks that fall working through "Drive All Over Town," "Roman Candle," and "Condor Ave" before it faded by 2009.
