Claude says:Smith's estate hired his former producer Rob Schnapf and ex-girlfriend Joanna Bolme to finish this posthumous double album, choosing fifteen tracks from over fifty songs he left on tape reels and hard drives — some complete, others missing only vocals or final mixing. You got into it two years after his death and spent a summer with it in 2006, then came back hard a decade later, especially in July 2019 when you wore out "Don't Go Down," "A Fond Farewell," and "Twilight." The guitar-heavy stuff and the instrumental passages hold up; the songs about addiction and depression feel heavier knowing how close he was to finishing this before he died.
