Claude says:Smith recorded this one in various Portland houses and studios between 1995 and 1996 while still in Heatmiser, blending lo-fi intimacy with the fuller production Tom Rothrock and Rob Schnapf would later bring to XO. It landed for you in early 2009, a dozen years after release and after 64 scattered plays that never stuck. "Between the Bars" and "Speed Trials" are your anchors, but you've worn deep grooves in "Alameda" and "Ballad of Big Nothing" too.
