Claude says:Rice made this debut in a home studio with a $500 loan from his dad, pulling in opera singers and Gregorian chants alongside Lisa Hannigan's harmonies — it came out in 2002 as a hardcover book with photos and lyrics, rejecting major-label deals to keep control. You had 56 scattered plays between 2006 and 2008 that didn't add up to much, then it properly clicked in March 2009, seven years after release, and you've kept "Cannonball" and "Delicate" in regular circulation ever since.
