Claude says:Rice spent the better part of the nineties in Juniper before walking away from a six-album deal, farming in Tuscany, and returning to Ireland to record the spare, devastating albums that made his name. This one — his first in eight years — keeps the ache but adds fuller arrangements, strings and electronics that don't soften the blow so much as frame it differently. You picked it up the month it dropped and leaned hard into it through 2015, then kept circling back: "I Don't Want to Change You" and the title track still pull you in, even after all these years.
