Claude says:The Long Beach indie rock band that broke through with Robbers & Cowards in 2006 had been refining their sound for over a decade by the time they released this as their seventh album. These songs hit a scrappier, more guitar-forward pocket than some of their mid-career work — urgent, hook-driven, a little frayed at the edges. You grabbed it the month it came out and cycled hard through "Complainer," "Dirt in my Eyes," and "Fine Fine Fine" right away, then kept a handful of tracks in reach across the years.
