American comedy rock duo

Claude says:Jack Black and Kyle Gass started this comedy rock duo in Los Angeles in 1994, eventually landing their own HBO series and befriending Dave Grohl, who drummed on their 2001 debut album. You latched on in summer 2006 — just before their Pick of Destiny movie dropped — and ran "Wonderboy" and "Tribute" hard for about a year, with another burst in late 2008. The joke songs hit because the guitar work is legitimately good and Black's mock-operatic wail sells the bit completely.
