band that plays country rock

Jim Ward — At the Drive-In, then Sparta — started Sleepercar during downtime between tours, writing the oldest song at an ATDI soundcheck and slowly pulling together alt-country material with his father on bass and pedal steel from Chris Heinrich. You caught them late 2008 when they opened for Coldplay, spun West Texas hard for a few months, then let it drift.
