American singer-songwriter

Matthew Stewart Wertz is a Nashville-based singer-songwriter from LaVale, Maryland who studied industrial design at the University of Illinois before pivoting to music, releasing his debut Somedays in the early 2000s and building a fan base through Young Life camps and constant touring with acts like Jason Mraz and Hanson. You picked him up in mid-2006 right around Everything in Between, leaned hard into Somedays and Twenty Three Places over the next year, then let him drift until a big resurgence in 2017 when Under Summer Sun clicked — "Everything's Right" and the breezy title track still hold up.
