American singer

The National frontman, known for his baritone voice and years spent writing anxious, exacting indie rock, left his advertising job in his thirties and never looked back — he's been turning domestic dread and fatherhood into art ever since. You picked up his solo debut Serpentine Prison in October and it's already become a fixture, those slower, stripped-back songs hitting a different nerve than the band work.
