English singer and songwriter

King Charles — born Charles Costa — won the International Songwriting Competition in Nashville at 19, judged by Tom Waits and Jerry Lee Lewis, before signing to Universal Republic and releasing his debut LoveBlood in 2012. You've stuck with him since 2016, riding the folk-rock theatricality of Gamble for a Rose through a few quiet years and then lighting up again in 2022 when its gothic-romantic weirdness hit differently. "The Brightest Lights" and "Choke" keep pulling you back in, proof that his freakish melodrama has earned its place.
