British band

Pete Shelley and Howard Devoto started Buzzcocks in Bolton in 1976 after bonding over the Velvet Underground, naming the band from a Rock Follies review that seemed to capture both the thrill of punk and a sly innuendo from Shelley's side job at an adult shop. You caught "Ever Fallen in Love" once in May — a passing moment with one of the sharpest pop-punk singles ever written, not yet a fixture.
