Claude says:Warren Griffin III helped define G-funk in the mid-'90s, riding synthesizer whine and slow-bounce drums to a string of hits that made Long Beach sound like the center of the world. This special edition of his 1994 debut is all lacquered bass, liquid synths, and that effortless cool that made West Coast rap feel like summer even in winter. You've mostly stuck with "Regulate" — a lone play in 2013, another the following year — treating it like a greatest-hit you respect but never really lived inside.
