Claude says:This Will Destroy You came out of San Marcos, Texas in the mid-2000s, a post-rock quartet who ditched vocals after deciding their Radiohead-ish early demos were "awful" and leaned into long, effects-heavy instrumental builds instead. The self-titled album stacks guitars into slow-burning walls of sound—"The Mighty Rio Grande" and "They Move on Tracks of Never-Ending Light" especially—where every shift in dynamics feels earned. You got into it in summer 2014, eleven years after it first came out, and went hard for a month before it faded into the background.
