Claude says:Recorded mostly in 1971 in the basement of Keith Richards' rented French villa while dodging British taxes and drowning in heroin, this famously ragged double album pulled together four years of outtakes the Stones didn't want to hand their old manager. Critics shrugged at first, but it's since landed as one of the defining rock records of the seventies. You grabbed it forty years after release in late 2012 and spent a few months that fall working through the whole sprawling thing — "Loving Cup," "Shine a Light," the bleary gospel of "I Just Want to See His Face" — before drifting away for good by the end of 2013.
