Claude says:The National's fourth record, released in 2007 on Beggars Banquet, was recorded half at home and half with producer Peter Katis, who'd become something like a seventh member — Sufjan Stevens even stopped by for a day to play on a couple tracks. You grabbed it two years after release in January 2009 and burned through it that month, leaning hardest on "Fake Empire" and "Slow Show" (which pulls lyrics from a song off their first album), then let it sit quiet for over a decade before picking it back up in scattered bursts.
