Claude says:The Boxer Rebellion formed in London in 2001 around Tennessee singer Nathan Nicholson and a crew of English musicians, building their reputation through high-profile support slots and eventually signing to Alan McGee's Poptones. This stripped-down acoustic session captures the band's anthemic indie rock in a more intimate setting, with Nicholson's vocals and the band's sense of dynamics intact. You discovered it in June 2012 and played it heavily that summer, especially "Soviets" and "No Harm" in their bare arrangements. The session came back in scattered bursts over the next few years whenever you wanted the full-band versions pared down, last surfacing in early 2020.
