Claude says:The sprawling double LP — written mostly during the Beatles' 1968 retreat to Rishikesh with Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, where Lennon and McCartney met secretly in the afternoons to write what Lennon called some of his best songs — came out on their new Apple label amid internal chaos: Ringo briefly quit during the May-to-October sessions, leaving Paul to drum on some tracks. You had one stray play in mid-2009, then it properly clicked in early 2010 and ran hot through the end of that year into spring 2011, with Wild Honey Pie and the Soviet satire of Back in the U.S.S.R. leading your rotation.
