Recorded in early 1968 after the Band spent a year in that pink house in West Saugerties improvising with Dylan, this debut melds country, folk, R&B, and blues into something looser and more lived-in than most rock at the time — Dylan even painted the cover. You've heard "The Weight" a few times since 2016, but the album itself has never quite stuck.
