Claude says:Their third album came together over an unusual three months in the studio — expensive for 1966, but it gave them room to overdub vocals separately and chase the production they wanted. Paul Simon pulled from songs he'd written in England and recycled a few from his solo record; the results included "Homeward Bound" and "Scarborough Fair/Canticle" (both already hits when the LP dropped), plus the odd collage of "7 O'Clock News/Silent Night" layering Vietnam reports over the Christmas carol. You had a brief run with it in the summer of 2019, more than fifty years after release, circling back to "Homeward Bound" and "The 59th Street Bridge Song" most often.
