Claude says:Secret Machines released this fifth album in early 2023, their second since guitarist Benjamin Curtis's death, finishing work he'd started in his lifetime. Critics noted it lacked the stadium sprawl of their debut or the melodic punch of Awake, but had its own dreamlike pull — spacey and Krautrock-indebted in ways their earlier records only hinted at. You picked it up the same year it dropped, spending September and early October with "Even Out The Overflow" and "I Think It's Light Outside," but it never quite stuck the way their first two did.
