Claude says:Rage's final studio album is a covers collection released in December 2000, just after the band split — no tour, all hindsight. Rick Rubin produced this run through three decades of protest music: Afrika Bambaataa, Minor Threat, Springsteen's "Tom Joad", Dylan, MC5, Cypress Hill, the Stooges. Critics called it a sonic history lesson that worked because they were smart enough to change very little and talented enough to make the songs their own. You had a lone play in 2009, a couple more scattered across the 2010s, then it finally clicked in early 2024 — two decades after release. "Renegades of Funk" and "Pistol Grip Pump" are the ones you keep coming back to.
