Claude says:Paul Meany and drummer Darren King started as a long-distance experiment in 2002, mailing demos between New Orleans and Missouri before recruiting guitarist Greg Hill and steering toward a rock sound touched by soul, psychedelia, and vintage gear. This debut sounds restless and kinetic — jittery Rhodes runs, spastic drum programming, and Meany's falsetto pushing against distorted guitars that owe something to the Police and U2. You picked it up in 2007, right as it came out, and played it heavily that first spring, then kept it going steadily for another three years with "Collapse" and "Typical" leading the charge.
