Claude says:Tokyo post-rock outfit Mono spent 1999 to 2003 touring relentlessly across Asia, Europe, and America, releasing early albums on Tzadik and Music Mine before signing to Temporary Residence in 2004. This remix collection from that year puts their work in the hands of dub architects and experimental manipulators — DJ Olive stretches "Halo" into a one-note throb, Aki Onda warps cassette tape, and the band's friends in Calla get the shoutman treatment. You had a stray play in March '09 that didn't stick, then it clicked that August and you ran through the Loren Connors remix and Marina Rosenfeld's "unholy sabbath" version a few times before moving on by October.
