Claude says:Mae came out of Norfolk, Virginia in 2001, built a following on Tooth and Nail before jumping to Capitol, then returned to independence when the major-label run didn't pan out. This EP arrived in 2010 as part of their final stretch before an indefinite hiatus — gentle, orchestral indie rock that leaned into strings and space rather than the bigger production of their Capitol years. You grabbed it two years after release in the summer of 2012, right as they were winding down, and spent a month with it before moving on: "A Quiet (e)vening" and "Bloom" got the most spins, alongside the lovely "I Just Needed You To Know."
