Claude says:The Kaiser Chiefs came out of Leeds in 2005 with Employment, a new wave revival record loaded with spiky guitars, vintage synth hooks, and Ricky Wilson's yelping vocals — all the hallmarks of mid-2000s indie rock that wanted to sound like 1979. You grabbed it in early 2022, nearly two decades late, and ran through the hits in a single month: "I Predict a Riot," "Oh My God," "Everyday I Love You Less and Less," plus deeper cuts like "Born to Be a Dancer" and "Caroline, Yes." It was a quick scan of a record everyone else wore out in the aughts, then you moved on.
