Claude says:This was Incubus breaking through — their third album, released in 1999, with new turntablist Chris Kilmore, and the one that spun off three top-three alternative hits, including "Drive," which made the pop top ten. Written in an eight-week sprint after a punishing 300-show year touring S.C.I.E.N.C.E., it caught a blend of alt-metal heft and radio-ready hooks that felt like the turn of the millennium. You grabbed it in 2006, seven years after release, and it's never really left — "Privilege" and "Drive" lead the way, but you've worked through the whole back half, returning in scattered bursts across two decades.
