Claude says:Greg Laswell spent the late '90s fronting a San Diego alt-rock band before going solo and carving out a second act writing stark, piano-driven breakup songs that soundtracked half the prestige dramas of the 2000s. Landline leans into that wheelhouse — spare arrangements, aching melodies, the kind of close-mic'd confession that feels like overhearing someone work through something in real time. You grabbed it the month it came out in 2012 and ran it hard that spring, then kept circling back in shorter bursts over the years — "Another Life to Lose" and "Late Arriving" still land.
