Claude says:The Foos scrapped their first attempt at this record and started over in a two-week sprint at Grohl's home studio, chasing the live-show energy they felt they'd lost — the result was heavier and more aggressive than anything they'd done before, with Chris Shiflett on guitar for the first time and Taylor Hawkins (fresh off a harrowing overdose) now handling all the drums. You let a couple of stray plays pass in '07 and '08, but it clicked for real seven years after release in May 2009, and you've circled back in short bursts ever since — "All My Life" and "Times Like These" still leading the charge.
