Claude says:David Crowder Band's 2009 No. 1 Christian album was engineered as a continuous 73-minute loop — they programmed the entire sequence first, then wrote songs to fit the keys and tempos, replacing much of the electronics with live instruments but keeping the synthetic spine intact. The result was a hard left turn from their previous work, with pulsating synth beds and club beats woven through nearly every track, drawing comparisons to the Killers and Owl City and described by critics as an attempt to transform worship music with sequencers in tow. You grabbed it the month it dropped and spent a year cycling through "Shadows," "Phos Hilaron," and "How He Loves" before a brief return in late 2011.
