Claude says:The Charlottesville jam band that landed in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame started as a bartender's side project with local jazz heavyweights — Carter Beauford on drums, LeRoi Moore on sax — and built their reputation on live shows that never play a song the same way twice. This 2001 concert recording is loose, stretched-out rock with jazz instincts, the band working through long improvisational passages and crowd-ready singalongs. You had a few stray plays between 2007 and 2009 that went nowhere, then something clicked in April 2011 — you leaned hard into "What You Are," "So Right," and the extended "Big Eyed Fish," riding it through summer before moving on.
