Claude says:Chris Carrabba's Dashboard Confessional made their MTV Unplugged appearance in 2002, right as the Boca Raton emo project was expanding from a solo bedroom venture into a full band — these were the first full-band recordings of songs originally written alone. The set captures that raw early catalog (Swiss Army Romance, The Places You Have Come to Fear the Most) with just enough body to fill out Carrabba's desperate confessionals without drowning their intimacy. You picked it up in summer 2021, nearly two decades after its release, and you keep returning to the ache of "Remember to Breathe," "The Best Deceptions," and "Swiss Army Romance" — the deep cuts hit harder for you than the singles ever did.
