Claude says:The Berkeley band that turned Adam Duritz's conversational desperation into multi-platinum alternative rock broke through with August and Everything After in 1993, then proved it wasn't a fluke with Recovering the Satellites three years later. This double-disc Amsterdam set captures them mid-career in 2003, stretching album cuts and deep tracks into extended, wandering performances that lean hard on Duritz's theatrical vocal runs. You grabbed it in May 2018 and worked through the deeper songs — "Hazy," "Holiday In Spain," "Goodnight Elisabeth" — like you were cataloging a band you'd grown up with but hadn't really sat down to study until then.
