Claude says:Band of Horses funded and produced this one themselves after leaving Sub Pop, recording most of it in Asheville with a newly stable six-piece lineup — the first time Ben Bridwell felt like he was part of a real band instead of managing a revolving door. Q called it "The Next Great Americana Album" and heard Neil Young all over it, which isn't wrong. You grabbed it the week it dropped in May 2010 and lived hard with "Laredo" and "Factory" through that summer, then mostly let it go — a few check-ins in 2012 and 2013, a brief revisit in late 2022, but otherwise a closed chapter from the indie rock moment right before everything shifted.
