Claude says:The band recorded most of this in a week at Montreal's Hotel2Tango in 2003 for around ten grand, finishing it the next year while mourning family deaths that give the record its name — the Neighborhood suite that opens it imagines a town losing power in winter, drawn from the 1998 ice storm. You came to it four years after release in late 2008, and it's stuck around ever since, the kind of record that keeps coming back after long gaps — you wore it hard in mid-2012, then again starting in 2022. "Wake Up" and "Rebellion (Lies)" get the most replays, but you've worked through the whole Neighborhood arc and deep cuts like "Une année sans lumière."
