Claude says:311 recorded this in a Van Nuys band house after their label pulled funding, which gave it the scrappy, low-ceiling energy the group wanted — muddy tone, five-string bass, and a rap-rock fusion that some critics found too close to the Beastie Boys but others praised for feeling rawer and less forced than the Chili Peppers. You didn't find it until 2022, nearly three decades after release, but it clicked right away — "Homebrew" and "Omaha Stylee" have come up regularly since then, with a strong run through last summer.
